Right away
- Switch off the main breaker.
- Never touch a person who is getting a shock: switch the power off first.
- Never throw water on an electrical fire.
- Call a checked electrician before switching it back on.
Warning signs
- Switches or plugs that feel warm or look burnt.
- Lights that flicker when a heavy appliance turns on.
- A breaker that trips again and again.
- Old wiring with cloth or cracked insulation.
Before summer
ACs and motors put heavy load on wiring. Before summer, have an electrician check the main board, breakers and AC lines, and make sure your earthing works.
